CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- One person was sent to the hospital after a car crashed into an apartment in Friendship Court on Garrett Street Friday.
Witnesses say the car was being driven by a man who had recently had surgery on his legs, which affected their mobility and functionality.
At this time, it is unknown whether or not he had been cleared to drive yet since that surgery.
The driver allegedly hit another car before crashing into the downstairs apartment, breaking the windows and damaging furniture.
The resident was sitting on a couch watching television in his living room at the time of the crash. He was transported to UVA Health with cuts on his face and knee and was later discharged.
His wife and two-year-old son were in another room on the same floor but were not hurt.
Friendship Court said it'll take a few days to repair the apartment. Meanwhile, the home's occupants will be temporarily displaced.
Charlottesville police have not yet confirmed whether the driver faces any charges. The condition of the driver is not yet currently known.
